Before we embark upon the road to how to find a job, I think most of us should focus first on the ugly mistakes that we keep making all the time. Finding a job is not an easy and a painless process. Whoever says that it is ill-informed. You have to first accept the fact that finding a job is a big job in itself.
The first thing you should NOT do is sit in front of your computer all day long and expect a miracle. Yes, it is important to fill out the job applications and send your paperwork out to the right people but trust me, there is much more to a job search than that. Get off your high chair and meet people. Make contacts, take important people out for coffee, party and network to your heart's content. Make your entire social life a part of your job process.
Slick up your resume, your cover letter and your attitude. Yes, a positive attitude is a must. Nobody likes to hang with a grouch especially someone who is recommended you to a potential employer. If you have lost your job, wallow in self pity for a day and then get to work!
NEVER and for whatever reason act on impulse. If your boss is a monster and you need to get away from your current job, plan it well. If you don't have any savings there is no way out but to stick it out till you have a solid option. Job search takes a while and unless you want to starve till you find your next gig don't leave the first one.
